Angola Rodeo, Louisiana State Penitentiary, Angola, La
“There is no other experience like it.  Great food, everything you could ever want for yourself or to give as a gift.  Lagniappe:  it's a real eye-opening experience for your kids.  Mine always behaved extra-well after these trips.” -Marly Alonzo, Denham Springs

Baton Rouge State Fair

“I have been going with my husband, Jerry, since 1978. We just love walking around, playing a few games, going to the petting zoo, laughing and cutting up.  When my son, Jerry Jr., was born in 1987, we continued this tradition.  He is now 22 and this year he and his girlfriend, Caitlin, went with us and had so much fun.  I feel like a little child each time I go, so alive and happy.  I look forward to this each and every year, and, I get sad when rain and/or other types of bad weather causes it to shut down even one day.  I know the workers won't make any money, and, the people will miss out on such a family bonding time.” -Margaret S. Narretta

Crescent City Classic, New Orleans, La
“Everyone gets out to exercise that day.  Sure, some are guzzling beers for the entire route or making pit stops for donuts, but all in all it is a healthy event in this city.  Along the route, people cheer, set up kegs, play music, etc.  This has to be the greatest race in the country.” -Stephanie Carter

“Annual family trip, bonding, eating well, staying fit, and making memories in a 10K event that we run when we're fit and walk when we're not.” -Eddie Ratliff

“More fun than should be legal all for a good cause. Many folks run in costume, the funnest 10 K walk/run anywhere!” -Don Leger

Dancing with the Stars, Big Buddy, Baton Rouge, La
“It's a wonderful display of local people putting their heart and soul in something they've never done for people they've never met.” -Whitney Vann, Baton Rouge

“It's an amazingly entertaining production with local people who are giving their all to help raise money for a very important cause, at-risk youth in Baton Rouge.” -Terry Serio, Baton Rouge

“I'm a fan of Leonard Augustus, a talented dancer who is paired with local celebrities each year. It is a spectacular show, for a good cause.” -Gaye Hamilton, Baton Rouge
