“I call my technique ‘mixed media collage’, says Lafayette artist Ramsey Ayers; “and it all came about just by experimenting. One day it was just a map I glued on to paper and painted on; another day I collaged the whole canvas, then added fabric. Beads came at some point. I sew fabrics, beads, and twigs onto the canvas with fishing line. I joke that I must have been ‘one-of-them’ in another life because I have such a strong vision of their lifestyles. In a way I think its my own vision of utopia, but I am just drawn to the islandy, relaxed, colorful world they live in (I call their world Juniper Island). Ramsey is happy to accept commissions.
