Taken from the traditional Charles Dickens Christmas story, The Cricket in the Hearth, Chirps 2001 was influenced by popular themes in the nineteenth century that centered around the home, family life and the festivities of the Christmas holiday season, according to Covington, Louisiana, artist Linda Trappey Dautreuil.The elements of fantasy and the dream sequence expressed in language by Dickens provided a parallel for my interpretation,” she explains.
